George Price Boyce (1826–97) records a visit to the home of Benjamin Godfrey Windus (1790–1867). The work by Girtin he comments on was probably Kirkstall Abbey, from Kirkstall Bridge, Morning (TG1636) (Bradbury, 2019, vol.2, p.986).
To Mr. Winder’s at Tottenham, where I saw the most glorious collection of drawings I ever beheld, mostly first rate works of Turner’s from about 1800 till within the last few years … also a fine drawing by an old painter, Girtin.
