Thomas Girtin

• 53 – ‘A View, said to be of Kite Hill and Wootton Bridge, Isle of Wight’, 5 ½ × 12 ⅜ in (14 × 31.4 cm). Bought by ‘Leggatt’ for £160 and sold to 'Charles E. Russell', according to an annotated photograph in the Girtin Archive (41) which also records the opinion of Thomas Girtin (1874–1960) that the work is 'Not by Girtin but quite a good near contemporary drawing'.
