Samuel Woodburn (1786–1853) was the principal art dealer of his time, specialising in paintings, old master drawings and prints. His posthumous sale included four works by Girtin, including An Overshot Mill (TG1427), which he lent to the exhibition of watercolours organised by William Bernard Cooke (1778–1855) in 1824.
